Ferno KED®

This well established extrication device offers superior immobilisation for patients with suspected spinal injuries.

The Ferno KED® is constructed from vertically aligned ramin slats which provide supreme rigidity to help minimise the risk of further injury during extrication. Wrap-around head and chest flaps allow the rescuer to immobilise the cervical, thoracic and part of the lumbar regions to help prevent rotation or angulation of the spine.
Once secured in extrication, the patient's head is held in place by adjustable head and chin straps. Additional comfort is provided by an easily adjusted neck pad which helps fill gaps caused by the natural curvature of the spine.

The chest flaps fold back allowing the Ferno KED® to be used with heart monitoring equipment, pregnant patients and younger adolescents.

Standard features include:

  • Colour coded chest straps ensure ease of application
  • Three large integral handgrips assist when extricating and placing the patient on a long back board
  • The KED® provides support during transportation through hospital treatment and transfers to radiology. Lateral and anterior-posterior X-rays may be performed with the KED® in place
  • Manufactured from woven polyester with a polyvinyl coating on both sides
  • Supplied complete with a carrying case for convenient storage
